October 28th, 8pm-1am: The Poetry Brothel Masquerade: Featuring Reines, Lasky, Nikolopoulos, Tamayo & more!


It grows cold and dark and we, once more, we don masks and enter the night and again each other’s hearts, other-heart, come to me slow in the night, night-heart, meet me by the fire, fire-dream, dream of me in the quiet song of your sinking, sinking-soul, pull me down with you, over and over, until the closing rites bring us all, and even the sun, down into this new and lavish darkness, dark-wings-of-evening, meet us again October-deep at the end of this alley, alley-cat preen your fur and furious feathers into black arrows and point at this seldom spoken scripture, scripture-sister sing and sign these dreams again, the secrets of this soiree, of each other, whisper softly on the dark sand.

Featured readers include Ariana Reines, author of The Cow (2006), winner of the Alberta Prize from Fence Books; Coeur de Lion (2007); and Mercury (2011); Dorothea Lasky, author of Awe (2007); Black Life (2010); and Thunderbird (2012), all from Wave Books; Angelo Nikolopoulos, author of Obscenely Yours, the winner of the 2012 Kinereth Gensler Award from Alice James Books, and Jennifer Tamayo, author of Red Missed Aches Read Missed Aches Red Mistakes Read Mistakes, the 2010 winner of Switchback Book’s Gatewood Prize. Other readers include Will Brewer, Seth Oelbaum, Carina Finn, Lisa Marie Basile, Alyssa Morhardt-Goldstein, Lauren Hunter, Meghann Plunkett, Rachel Boyadjis, Rachel Herman-Gross, and Evan Burton. The night will include burlesque performances by Moxie Sazerac and Luna Liprari. Tarot readings will be provided by Robert Cunningham. Body painting will be offered by Liz Belomlinsky of Every Body Art. And we’ll enjoy live music by Karen Marie Richardson of Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More!
